The students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had taken part in the Walkathon organised by the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyothsava on 1st November 2023 at 5pm. The theme of the walkathon was ‘A step for a cause- Drug free Mangaluru’. The walkathon was from the Kudmul Ranga Rao Townhall to Mangala stadium, Lalbagh, Mangaluru. Slogans were chanted by the students against the usage of drugs on their way to the Mangala stadium.
Altogether around 120 institutions and 5000 students were part of the walkathon. Faculties and students of various departments of our college took part in the walkathon. Mr. Niketh P.S. Assistant Professor of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science represented the department and accompanied the students. Around 25 students had taken part in the walkathon which concluded at 6.15 pm followed by refreshments. The students expressed that the walkathon was organised for the good cause by the police department and being a youth, it was an opportunity for them to spread the awareness in the society. Such initiatives should be taken place very often so that the society can be free from the evil of drug abuse.
