As a part of Post Graduate Common Forum Activity, Forensis Forum of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science had organized a program “Snehapoorvam- A Spectrum of Cultural Events” on the occasion of “Onam – The Harvest Festival”. Program was held on 23rd August 2023 at 4:30pm in the Maria Paiva hall of the college. The main objective of this program was to foster a sense of unity and togetherness and to promote harmony and social integration.
The program started by students of the department with the traditional Onam event Pookalam(flower rangoli). Nashwa Iqbal, second year students of QDIE specialization cum the Secretary of Forensis Forum gave an introductory note about the Onam festival. Further there was a Thiruvathira (traditional group dance) dance performance along with various entertaining activities relevant to the theme for students and faculties. Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head, PG Department of Criminology and Forensic Science spoke on the occasion wishing the students and faculties happy and prosperous days ahead. The Onam signifies unity, peace and harmony irrespective of religion, caste and class she said. She also expressed her happiness and appreciated the students for taking initiative to organize the program. Mr. Vishnu Prasad gracefully pulled out the character of Mahabali. Ms. Ananya and Ms. Sowmini of second year MSc CFS, sang ear pleasing songs to cheer the gathering.
In connection to the celebration, games such as back drawing, Sundaram Pott Thodal, lemon and spoon, hook step and musical chair were organized. Students also actively participated in the Onam Special Uriyadi (pot-breaking game). Sweets were distributed on the occasion.
Students expressed that the activities conducted was helped to relax and to remove the monotonous environment among them. It gave an opportunity for the first year students to get to know each other and interact with their seniors. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Saritha D’Souza and Ms. Athira V J., Assistant Professor of the PG Department of CFS cum faculty coordinator of Forensis Forum. The program was concluded at 5.30pm with the vote of thank delivered by Ms. Aishwarya Sathya, Second year student of MSc CFS cum Presisent of Forensis Forum along with a group photographs. The whole event was compered by Ms. Nashwa Iqbal. Altogether, 36 students and 4 teaching faculties of the college were present on the occasion.
