Community Development scholars had exposure to H.D.Kote as part of the study tour.
On 27th November 2017 - Day 1 had orientation and discussion about BKS.
The sessions was about the Forest Right Act and Bonded labor. Mr. Basavraj, Secretary of Budakattu Krushikar Sangha (BKS) spoke about effects of the Forest Act. Ms. Mahadevi, Social Worker explained about tribal women empowerment and education.
Mr. Umesh, Head of the JEEVIKA organization, it mainly focusing on rescuing and rehabilitating the bonded laborers. The organization purpose is to eradicating the bonded labor. And scholars interacted with the Tahishildar of H.D.Kote.
On 28th November 2017 - Day 2 scholars visited MYRADA ORGANIZATION. Mr. Mahadevayya training coordinator oriented the scholars about organization functions. This NGO mainly focuses on empowerment of SHGs. It is involved in Nirmala Gram Purasakar Yojane, Water Quality Assurance, Village Development Plan, PRA. They have programmes such are HIV-AIDS Awareness, Livelihood Project, Organic planning, Integrated Pest Management, Watershed Development Programmes.
Trainees also visited NISARGA FOUNDATION : An initiative towards enhancing quality of life with dignity in tribal and rural areas.
Mr. Nanjundayya president of Nisarga Foundation, interacted with the scholars about the Organization. Nisarga has been involved in forest rights movements, land struggles against atrocities on SC/ST. It ensure positive socio-economic, cultural and political empowerment in the indigenous. It also rescue tribal people who were bonded labours and reclaimed their allotted land, actively participated in the struggle to implement forest right act in HD Kote and Scholars went for a sight seen to Kabhini Dam.
On 29th November 2017 - Day 3 EXPOSURE VISIT TO TRIBAL COMMUNITY Macchuru
Mr. Somashekhar Coordinator of Fedina Organization, Mr. Narasimhappa, Legal advisor of Supreme Court, Guided Interacted with the scholars about Tribal Rights. Recognizing their rights to land and natural resources and to define their own priorities for development. Scholars visited tribal house and had food over there after that we visited Hadi (goluru, manemole, anemala) to know their culture and practices, socio economic situations, political participation. In this forest Jenukuruba, Bettakuruba, Soliga and Eruva tribal communities are living and they fully depend on the Forest environment. These Tribal communities face different development issues like displacement & eviction, loss of traditional livelihood and exploitation by forest department, and challenged due to loss of their traditional livelihood and the general lack of economic opportunities.
On 30th November 2017 - Day 4 scholars INTERACTED WITH THE TRIBAL COMMUNITY LEADERS
Mr. Rajanna, Director of BKS, had spoke about their problems and struggles. Their least need is to get the land to cultivate but they are pushed out of the forest because of asking their living rights in the forest. Trainees also Interacted with Mrs. Somamma, Member of Doddbirankuppe Gram Panchayat, she is fighting for the tribal rights and shared her own experience of struggles, she is the role model for the Tribal Community. Mr. Tirupati, Gram Panchayat president of Doddbirkankuppe, had interacted with the scholars and they have spoke about facilities, schemes and programs available for the Tribal people. They have refused to take land under right to record tendency crop because there was big loss of land for the Tribal people along with Budakattu Krishikara Sangha members shared their opinions, challenges, problems. After that scholars visited Government Ashrama School Anemal DB Koppa there interacted with the students and teachers.
Day 5 :
Scholars visited MAGIC BUS FOUNDATION on 1st December 2017 Interaction and Discussion with Mr. Srikanth, Training come Monitor Officer, and Ms. Vidhya about Magic Bus Organization. Scholars had field visit to understand their activities for development of the child. And even scholars took part in the games and played with the children. This organization, mainly focusing on children towards a better life skills and better opportunities and youth skill training and communication skills for slum children, also equips poorest children and young people with skills and knowledge to grow and be successful. After the field exposure scholars visited Magic Bus organization and interacted with Mr. Venktesh, Director had explained about the organization goal and activities.
On the same day Trainees visited ODANADI SEVA TRUST Interaction and discussion with Mr. Stanley, founder of ODANADI. They have spoke about pathway of the organization, it mainly addresses all forms of sexual violence against women and children, with a special focus on human trafficking.
