“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life; think of it; dream of it; live on that idea”. - Swami Vivekananda Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W) degree programme encourages the empathetic involvement of students in activities that focus on social development. The value of learning through service is significantly incorporated in the academic programme. It prepares students for professional practice in Social Work. Social Work Practicum is a very important component that aims at enabling students to understand the relevance between theory and practice and to concretize the theory learned in the classroom. We provide an excellent opportunity to students by exposing them to real-life situations through surveys, street plays, exposure visits, study tours, internships, and training in Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Students also get an opportunity to work with Government Organisations, whereby they learn about Government schemes and programmes which help them in reaching out to the community. Networkings with Non-Government Organisations expose the students to a wide variety of challenges and interventions. Values such as selflessness and service are blended with leadership skills and social sensitivity that transforms them into leaders of tomorrow. This programme enhances the core values, ethics, knowledge, and skills of social work for professional practice. Year of establishment of the Department of BSW Department 1984
