As the part of Post Graduate Common Forum Activity, Forensis Forum of MSc Criminology and Forensic Science had organised a session on the occasion of International Women’s Day on the theme ‘Prevention of Crime Against Women’ held on 8th March 2023 at 3pm in the Maria Paiva hall of the college.
The activity was conducted by the first year students of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science which included a session on the theme, along with a skit and quiz. The program began with a prayer invoking God's blessings followed by a formal welcome by Ms. Shreshta. Ms. Aishwarya Satya, Class Representative of first year Criminology and Forensic Science gave an introductory note stating the significance of the day. The main aim of the event is to throw light on the life of a women in the society, to spread awareness on prevention of crime against women and the law’s related to the protection of women in India.
Further, a skit was presented by the students on various kinds of crimes committed against women such as eve teasing, bullying, rape, dowry harassment, chain snatching along with its preventive measures. Ms. Aishwarya Satya delivered a session on ‘Evolution of Women’s Rights in India’ stating different acts related to women such as Female Infanticide Prevention Act, Hindu Widow Remarriage Act, Immoral trafficking of women (Prevention) act, Dowry Prohibition Act, Equal Remuneration Act, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and so on. Mr. Vishnu Prasad and Mr. Prajwal Benny conducted a Quiz pertaining to the Women’s Day special wherein rightly answered to the questions by the audience was rewarded.
The event concluded at 4.30pm with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Adarsh M. Ms. Manisha Riya Baretto compered the whole event successfully. Participants appreciated and gave positive feedback regarding the event conducted. Altogether, 60 students and nine faculties were present on this occasion.
