On September 2, 2024, approximately 65 postgraduate students from the Master of Social Work (MSW) program participated in a public hearing hosted by the Forest Department at the Office of the Range Forest Officer in Hoigebazar, Mangaluru. The hearing focused on the proposed felling of 99 trees along the KPT to Nantoor route.

During the deliberations, the students emphasized the critical role of these trees in maintaining ecological balance and the need for sustainable development practices. Their contributions highlighted the importance of preserving green spaces and exploring alternative solutions that support environmental conservation while accommodating infrastructural needs.
