A workshop on Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) was conducted for social work trainee students by the PG Department of MSW of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, on 4th January from 10.30 am to 12.45 pm. The resource person for the workshop was Asst. Prof Ramya B. The objective of the workshop was to equip skills for the trainees for their upcoming rural exposure camp. The session focused on PRA techniques such as social mapping, resource mapping, and transect walks to understand rural community dynamics effectively. Facilitators emphasised the importance of engaging with local communities through participatory methods for accurate data collection and community problem-solving. Interactive activities, including group discussions and role-playing exercises, were conducted to enhance practical understanding. Forty social work trainee students benefited from the workshop. Asst. Prof Dr.Umme Hani and Asst. Prof Jinsa Joseph actively collaborated in the workshop. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and with students expressing increased confidence and readiness to engage with rural communities.
