As part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya and Father Muller Medical College, Criminology students from final-year attended a session on Medical Jurisprudence on 12th August 2024. This session, integrated into the 5th semester Forensic Medicine syllabus, was conducted by Dr. Hareesh Gowda, Professor and Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology.

During the session, Dr. Hareesh covered key topics, emphasizing the importance of codes of ethics in maintaining professional integrity and safeguarding patient welfare. He explained the role and functions of the Medical Council of India (MCI), highlighting its regulatory responsibilities in medical education and ethics enforcement. The session also explored the judicial procedures of the MCI for handling cases of professional misconduct and discussed the transition to the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Additionally, the session addressed the duties of Registered Medical Practitioners, the consequences of professional misconduct, and the critical importance of obtaining informed consent in medical practice.

The session provided the students with valuable insights into the legal and ethical frameworks governing medical practice. The interactive Q&A segment allowed students to clarify their doubts, making the session both informative and beneficial for their future careers. The 26 final year students of BA Criminology participated in the Session.
