Awareness programme on “Youth Participation in Prevention of Drug Abuse”
On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Criminology, School of Social Work, Mangaluru in collaboration with Mangaluru South Police Station, Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate and Jana Jagruthi vedike organized an awareness programme “Youth Participation in Prevention of Drug Abuse” held on 27th June 2016 at 12pm in the College auditorium, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru.
The resource person Dr. Srinivas Bhat, Senior Psychiatrist, K. S. Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, Mangaluru inaugurated the programme and enlightened the students of the college about the various drugs, its abuse, causes and their consequence if consumed. He also spoke on the physiological changes the drugs cause after the consumption. He stressed on the preventive measures and the importance of awareness regarding drug abuse among youth.
Sri Sridhara Holla, President, Jana Jagruthi Vedike, Mangaluru, proposed the oath for the gathering, not to consume drugs and to spread the awareness of drug abuse in the society.
Dr. Laxminarayana Bhat P. Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work, Mangaluru presided over the programme. Mr. Umarabha, Yojanadhikari, Sri. Kshetra Gramina Abhivrudhi, Dharmasthala, Sri. K.M. Shareef, Sub Inspector, Mangaluru South Police Station, Pandeshwar, Mangaluru, Ms. Saritha D’Souza, Head, UG Department of Criminology, School of Social Work, Mangaluru, the teaching faculty and students’ of the college attended the program.
