The Annual Special Camp 2022-2023 organised by National Service Scheme of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru was scheduled from 06-02-2023 to 12-02-2023 at Government P.U college Mulki, Mangaluru, D.K. The programme officers were Asst. Prof. Obanath and Asst. Prof. Veena B K. With the Theme- “Youth for Science and Scientific Psycho-spirituality”

Day 1, 06/02/2023
On 06-02-2023, the volunteers gathered in the college premises by 1:00 pm. Dr. Sophia N Fernandes, Principal, Mrs. Udayashree office staff, Ms. Mary, Maintenance officer of college addressed the volunteers and wished success, right after, the volunteers left to the camp location and reached by 2:00pm. Thereafter, the volunteers were divided into five teams named Netravathi, Kaveri, Narmada, Godavari and Tungabhadra. The camp was inaugurated at 4:00 pm and it was inaugurated by Lion Venkatesh Hebbar, Founding President, Lions Club, Bappanadu. Presidential address was given by Assoc. Prof. Eveleen Benis, Secretary, Institute of Social Service, Mangalore. Chief Guests for the programme were Mr. Subhash Shetty, President, Mulki Nagara Panchayat, Mr. Chandra Pujari, Chief Officer, Mulki Nagara Panchayat addressed the Volunteers. Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Vice President, College Development Committee, Government P.U College, Mulki, Mr. Harsharaj Shetty, President, School Development and Monitoring Committee, Government High School, Mulki, Dr. Vasudev Belle, Principal, Government P.U College, Mulki, Mrs. Jayalakshmi T Naik, Head Mistress, Government High School, Mulki, Mr. Harish Hejamadi, Senior Journalist, Assoc. Prof. Vineetha K, Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, addressed volunteers and conveyed their good wishes; NSS Programme Officers Mr. Obanath K and Mrs. Veena B K, NSS Leaders Mr. Joysten D Souza, Ms. Nagashree were also present. The programme ended with the National Anthem. After an hour of practice, cultural programme began at 6:30 pm where the volunteers gave different performances. Evaluation for the day began at 8:00 pm right after dinner. The successful day came to an end at 10:00 pm after valuable discussion done during evaluation.

Day 2, 07/02/2023
The day began at 5:00am; after freshening up the volunteers meditated and exercised. The Flag was hoisted by Mr. Harish Hejamadi, Senior Journalist. The breakfast was served at 8:30am, Shramadan began right after that. The volunteers cleaned the area, levelled the ground and the shramadan went on till 12:30pm. The volunteers had their lunch at 1:30 pm. The educational program began at 2:30pm. The resource person was J.C Ashwini Pradeep, Secretary of JCI Padubidri; she gave a session on Effective Time Management skills. The Chief Guest for the day, Dr Rekha, Lecturer in Sociology, Government P. U. College, Mulki, addressed on the significance of NSS. The programme ended with the National Anthem. The volunteers practiced for cultural programme from 5:00 pm to 6:30pm, meanwhile, the evening snacks was served and also flag was lowered at 6:00pm. Cultural programme began at 6:30pm; Lady Constable Ms. Soubhagya and Asst. Prof Roshni Goveas, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya were the Chief guests for the cultural programme. After dinner, evaluation programme was held at 9:00pm where the volunteers appreciated each other and were left to rest at 10:00pm.

Day 3, 08/02/2023
The volunteers began their day at 5:00 am with exercise. Dr. Sathish Chitrapu, Professor in Kannada, Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, hoisted the flag at 7am. After an hour of Shramadan breakfast was served at 8:30am. Immediately, the volunteers continued shramadan till 12:30pm and refreshment was served in between. The volunteers had their lunch at 1:30 pm. Educational programme started at 2:30pm in which Mrs. Jayanti Rao, English Lecturer, Government P.U. College, Mulki was the Chief Guest. The Resource Person was Lion Prashanth Shetty, Zonal Trainer, JCI India Zone, gave a session on “Awareness on Substance Abuse- Causes and Effects” and another Resource Person ASI Raju, Traffic Police Department spoke on “Road Safety Measures”. The session ended at 5:00 pm. After evening snacks, the volunteers played fun games. The flag was lowered before sunset. Cultural programme began at 6:30pm and dinner was served at 8:30pm. The day ended with effective evaluation.

Day 4, 09/02/2023
As usual the day began at 5:00 am with warm up exercise. The flag was hoisted at 7:00am. The volunteers had their breakfast at 8:30 am and began shramadan at 9:30am which went on till 12:30pm; during the Shramadaan some volunteers were taken by Gram Panchayat to help them to conduct Survey while the others continued the Shramadan. After lunch, the educational programme began at 2:30pm. Mrs. Prema R. Shetty, English Teacher, Government High School, Mulki was the Chief Guest. The Resource Person Jithendra V. Rao, NSS Programme Officer, Vijaya College, Mulki gave a session on “Life Skills for Youth”. The session came to an end at 4:30pm and was followed by evening snacks. The cultural programme began at 6:00pm where the Chief Guests Mrs. Prema R Shetty and her talented daughter Diya Uday enjoyed watching. The dinner was served at 8:30pm, it was followed by Evaluation session. The day ended at 10:00 pm

Day 5, 10/02/2023
The volunteers woke up at 5:00am and started the day with exercise. Exercise was followed by flag hoisting at 7:00 am which was done by Dr Suprabha V, Associate Editor. After having breakfast, some of the volunteers were taken to conduct a Survey by The Gram Panchayat and had an amazing experience. Other volunteers cleaned the ground as a part of shramadan, they continued levelling the ground and work was completed on this day. After an hour of rest, lunch was served at 1:30 pm. Educational programme began at 2:30pm. Mr. Ashok Bhandary Kannada Lecturer, Government P.U. College, Mulki was the Chief Guest and encouraged the volunteers; The Resource Person Prof. Ronald Pinto, Lions club Bappanadu ‘Inspire’, District 317D, Region V, Zone II gave a session on “Career Guidance”. The educational session ended with National Anthem at 4:30 pm. Evening snacks was served and also games were conducted right after that all volunteers practised for cultural programme. The cultural programme began at 6:30pm. Dinner was served at 8:30pm followed by Evaluation session. Anda productive day came to an end at 10:00pm.

Day 6, 11/02/2023
The last working day also started at 5:00am with exercise. At 7 am, Mrs. Shri Devi, Trainer hoisted the flag .and volunteers had their breakfast at 9:00am and immediately 25 volunteers left to Nagara Panchayat for Survey. The other volunteers had to do the levelling and cleaning of the area during Shramadan till 12:30pm. After rest the volunteers had their lunch at 1:30pm. The educational session began at 2:30pm, the Chief Guest Mr. Ramananda K, NSS officer, Government P. U. College, Mulki, wished the volunteers. The Resource Person Capt. Adrian Noel Lobo, Indian Soldier addressed the volunteers on “The role of Youth in Nation Building”. The dinner was served little early at 7:30pm as there was Shibirajyothi later. Shibirajyothi began at 8:00pm and went on till 10pm. Dr Suprabha V, Associate Editor; Mr. Harish Hejamadi, Senior Journalist, Dr Satish Chitrapu, Professor in Kannada, Poorna Prajna College, Udupi, Mr. Ramachandra S Naik, Headmaster, Government High School, Prantha, Moodabidri, Mrs. Anusuya Kamath, YRC Coordinator, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya were present as Guests. The NSS officers Asst Prof. Obanath and Asst. Prof. Veena B K were present too. All the groups sang patriotic songs and also each volunteer shared their camp experience. The day was filled with emotion as camp came to an end.

Day 7, 12/02/2023
The day began at 5:00am and started the day with exercise. Valedictory was scheduled on this day. The breakfast was served at 8:00am and preparation for valedictory programme began. At 10:30 am the valedictory programme began, the programme was presided by Dr Jenis Mary, Vice Principal, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore and the Guests were Mr. Subhash N Shetty, President, Mulki Nagara Panchayat; Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Vice President, College Development Commitee Govt. P U College, Mulki; Mr. Harsharaj Shetty, President, SDMC Government High School, Mulki; Dr Vasudev Belle, Principal, Government P.U college, Mulki; Mrs. Jayalakshmi T Naik, Head Mistress, Government High School, Mulki; Prof. Vineetha K, Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore. After the programme and refreshments, the volunteers cleaned the surroundings, packed the equipment’s and left at 12:30pm.
