Anganwadi Workers Training Centre, Nav Jeevan Marg, UllalExtension Services - Ullal Background : In order to provide rural experience to the students of Roshni Nilaya, Navjeevan Marg the rural community Organisation Centre an extension project of School of Social Work was started in the year 1978 covering two panchayats namely Permannur and Someshwar Uchchil. The student volunteers from Roshni Nilaya took out an informal survey and later on over the years worked on areas like involvement of rural women in public co-operation, revival of Mahila Mandal activities, health and drinking water. Mr. C. Britto, Head Quarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner was instrumental in getting the then Deputy commissioner to allot one acre of land to Navajeevan Marg and with the funds from the Dutch a building was erected. Later, the Residential Anganwadi Workers Training Programme, run by the Institute under the sponsorship of the Department of Women and child Welfare, was transferred to Navjeevan Marg and continues to function from this Centre. The Anganwadi Training Center is situated at Nava Jeevan Marg, Ullal. The major focus of the centre has been providing Job oriented courses for the newly recruited Anganwadi workers and Helpers in the region as well as Refresher courses. The total number of Anganwadi workers and Helpers trained by the AWTC since its inception in 1979 is 22, 629. The trainings are funded by the Department of women and child welfare.

The AWTC operates with following staff;-Principal, Nutritionist, Preschool Instructor, Community devp and Communication expert, Accountant, clerk cum Typist, Attendent, cum Peon, Warden cum Dietitian, Cook, Asst, Cook and Security.
