On 26/7/2018 Thursday, School of social work Roshni Nilaya MSW [community Development] students and faculties along with Ullal City Municipal Council (CMC) administration members went to Mattannur city municipal Council (CMC) to have an exposure visit.
Mattannur is a small town in Kannur district in the state of kerala .Total population 47,000. Ms Anitha Venu is the current chairman of the municipal council .All together there are 45 staff working for the betterment of MCMC. They started the waste management system with good objectives , because city had very poor waste disposal history. So they started waste management from household level and also giving awareness from children to adult .They are able to make wealth out of waste, in the sense , nutritious manure for cultivation and biogas for cooking and cremation.
They have committed workers and officers . People and political system also supporting them to keep the city clean. They are very clear about what they are doing. It was very informative and resourceful .They reminded us that “ADMINISTRATIVE BODY MUST BE MODEL FOR THE PEOPLE, WILLINGNESS AND CORDINATION PLAYS HAND IN HAND”.
