Holistic Well Being (Counselling) Forum Events

To enhance motivation and discipline among its students, Lourdes Central School organized a series of Motivational Talks for classes 5, 6, 7 and 8, which was facilitated by students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, MSc Counselling department, Ananya Singh and Anjana Jose. The sessions took place on 10th February, 24th February, 3rd March and 10th March.

The objectives of these sessions were to establish rapport with the students, to get familiarized with students’ sense of problems and blunders, to bring awareness to students about desirable traits and its benefits and to develop insight in students about their own strengths and weaknesses.

The facilitators used written and verbal exercises, with interactive questions. The facilitators first focused on how the students can own and accept their mistakes, so that it’s not taken as indiscipline or disrespect. The facilitators also shared how important it is to communicate with parents and teachers, about the problems they face, for clarification as well their feedback. After that, the students were asked to write the qualities they like, and would like to cultivate in themselves, using PPT which had Avengers – characters that students were familiar with. Through this exercise, it was highlighted how they could take inspiration from them and inculcate some of their values. Lastly, the students were instructed to do SWOT Analysis in which they were required to note down their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in order to help them realize the qualities they already possess and the ones they need to develop.

The session was very beneficial for students and they decided to never give up and would always work hard to achieve their goals. The speaker ended with more Motivational examples and answered student’s queries.

The sessions were concluded with vote of thanks.

A total number of 160 participants attended the programme.
