On October 5th, 2023, the Spandana International Student Social Worker Symposium kicked off with the theme "Validation of Family-centred Social Work Method: Contemporary Challenges." The event featured welcome speeches, important talks, and discussions relating to family-centred social work. Dr. Bino Thomas, the chief guest of the event, emphasized the importance of addressing modern family challenges. Dr. Supraja discussed evolving family dynamics. The second day included sessions on family intervention techniques and theoretical frameworks for family work. We also had a virtual session where we learned from Mr. Tony Mathew, a social worker in the UK. A panel discussion focused on family values and modern lifestyles was held. This discussion highlighted the differences within families and how we pass on values to the next generation, making our families stronger. The symposium ended with a reflective report session by student convenor Sona Prakash. Prof. Erland Walseth, Volda University, Norway shared how Social Work viewed as a Curriculum and a Profession in Norway. The event left a strong impression and made a lasting impact as a platform for meaningful discussions and learning. A total of 150 delegates from different institutions across the country and 108 students from the institution, 21 staff of the college a total of 341 participants participated in the symposium.
