PG Department of Social Work of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organised a field visit for, social work trainees of MSW 1st Year to St Joseph Prasanth Nivas under the guidance of MSW Faculty, Asst. Prof Jinsa Joseph on 23rd July 2024 at 10 am. Sisters of Charity run this institution in Jeppu. Society of Jesus established this institution in 1898 and handed it over to Sisters of Charity.
Prashanth Nivas is an abode for hundreds of men and women who are destitute, elderly, and helpless irrespective of caste, creed and community. The inmates were pleasantly excited to receive the budding professionals. Sr. Ann Rose, the superior welcomed the trainees and accompanied us throughout our visit. The trainees were taken around the ashram for social interaction with the inmates. Trainees’ ingratitude presented a few programmes that were highly appreciated as well as entertained them. The presence of the youngsters did render a special glow on their wrinkled, much-experienced faces. The trainees were surprised and were moved to witness their enthusiasm as they readily presented songs and dances. It was indeed a memorable time worth spending with the elderly people, which has indeed left a lasting impression of gratitude and humanity in the hearts of the young trainees. The visit included thirty enthusiastic social work trainees. The visit ended with a vote of thanks at 12.30 pm
