DAY 3 - Visit to INS HANSA
Students visited INS HANSA on the 7th of March 2020.
The students were given a tour of the Naval Air Station by the naval aviation officers. Lieutenan R.M. Rao displayed and described to students about the functioning of Chetak IN 430. This vintage, single engine aircraft has the capacity of 3 pilots + 4 passengers, which was mainly used for Search and Rescue.
The studentS also got a view of the huge disperal area where they spotted Dornier of the Coast Guard and the Dornier of the Navy.
Lieutenant Sanjeev described the IN 703 which was HAL made, 14 seater + 2 pilots. Its roles included V.I.P role, Ambulance role, Cabin gunning and other common roles.
The students got to explore and study the IN 236, which was thoroughly guided by Lieutenant Apoorva Sharma who was an observer. It was a Dornier 228 who's main role was coastal surveillance along with SAR, routine checks, and collecting information from the enemy.
The hospitality and experience of this visit was surreal.
