On July 27 2024, As a part of extension program 10 UG Criminology students performed a street play on "DRUG AWARENESS" at Manipal School, Attavar, Mangaluru. They conducted an interactive session with students, explaining the severe consequences of drug use, including criminal records, travel restrictions, and limitations in securing government or reputable jobs. Key points discussed included the following: Legal consequences, with nations having strict laws on drug abuse and severe penalties such as long-term imprisonment and hefty fines; the impact of a criminal record, which can tarnish one's reputation and lead to legal complications; career and employment challenges, as employers are often reluctant to hire individuals with a criminal record; travel restrictions, with many countries denying visas to individuals with criminal records; and social status issues, where criminal records can lead to social discrimination, affecting personal and professional relationships. They also highlighted the issue of narco-terrorism, explaining how Indian youths are targeted by terrorists, leading to their downfall and preventing them from contributing to the country's development.86 students benefited from the session
