Mr. Shijo Mon Yesudhas, Business Development Manager (South Asia) at Deakin University, Australia, served as the resource person for the session. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sabina, a faculty member at Father Muller's Medical College. The primary objective of the session was to provide students with insights into international education, student exchange programs, and career opportunities beyond India.
Mr. Shijo delivered an informative talk covering various aspects of studying abroad, with a particular focus on higher education opportunities in Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, and Middle Eastern countries. He elaborated on the process of pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies in these countries, highlighting the advantages of international exposure in academia and professional development. Additionally, he discussed the prospects of part-time and full-time employment while studying, emphasizing work policies and job market trends in different regions. He also explained the eligibility criteria and stressed the importance of thorough preparation for securing admission to reputed universities.
The session further explored financial aspects, with Mr. Shijo providing insights into tuition fee structures, scholarship programs, and financial aid options, including education loans and minority welfare schemes. He also addressed medical and insurance requirements for international students, as well as the visa application process and key factors influencing visa approvals.
Students were given a realistic perspective on both the challenges and benefits of studying abroad, including cultural adaptation, academic expectations, and career advancement opportunities. The discussion also emphasized the importance of selecting the right course and university based on individual aspirations and market demand.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, during which students actively sought clarifications on topics such as scholarship eligibility, job opportunities, and visa formalities. Mr. Shijo addressed their queries with practical insights and encouraged students to explore global education as a pathway to professional growth.
