On the occasion of Crime Prevention Month 2018,Department of Criminology in Collaboration with Economic and Narcotic Crime Police Station,Cyber Crime Police Station, Mangalore South Police Station ,Commissionerate of Police,Mangaluru City had organised a session on “Youth Participation in Prevention of Crime” on 15th December 2018 at 10.30 a.m in the college Auditorium. The topics like rash driving, harassment in public transportation and substance abuse were enacted.
Sri. Bhaskar V B, Assistant Commissioner of Police ,Central Sub Division ,Mangaluru City inaugurared the program and gave an insight on menace of Crime prevalent in today's society and the role of police and public to curb them.
Mr. Ramakrishna K K, Inspector,Economics and Narcotics Crime Police Station, Pandeshwar,Mangalore and Mr. Mohammed Sharif,Inspector Urwa Police Station were present for the inaugural.
Dr.Caroline P. D’Souza MBBS, DPM, DNB (PSY), who is a consultant psychiatrist, was a resource person. She spoke about drug abuse in great detail, taking the audience along the stages that a victim of drug abuse goes through.
Another resource person, Sri. Savithru Tej P. D police inspector at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Mangaluru and he addressed the various kinds of cases including skimming, identity theft, crimes done through social media, Nigerian fraud, etc.
