‘Motivation of Youth for Inspiring Rural Reconstruction’
National Service Scheme, Mangalore University, in collaboration with Rural Development forum, School of Social Work, Roshini Nilaya, conducted a one-day training progarmme on ‘Motivation of Youth for Inspiring Rural Reconstruction’ on 19th September 2014 in the School of Social Work. The one-day programme was sponsored by National Council of Rural Institutes.The programme was symbolically inaugurated by Smt. Muthu Shetty by singing the Padana and lightning the lamp by Master Sri Krishana Sharma, a 9th Standard student and Krishi Award winning agriculturist from Kasargod. Ms Colin D’Souza,President of Institute of Social Service, presided the programme. Ms Collin D’Souza stated that today the youth had less opportunity to understand the realities of Rural Life. In this context training programmes like this for the students of collages is a welcome initiative. During the day experts from various fields gave lectures to the student delegates (Rural Development students of Roshni Nilaya and from various colleges of Mangalore city) on various dimensions of Rural Reconstruction. Mrs Anuradha Shetty, Convener and Lecturer Rural Development Department, School of Social Work, delivered the vote of thanks.

- “Orientation on Community Radio” by Abhishek Shetty, Program Producer, Community Radio (SARANG) 107.8FM, St. Aloysious College, Mangalore, for second year and final year BA students held on 11th August 2014.
- “Cleaning and Maintenance of Herbal Garden” by second year and final year Rural Development students held on 13th August 2014.
