On September 19, 2024, the SAHAYOG Forum of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Department of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore, conducted an Extension Service Programme titled "Environmental Education" for around 40 students from Government Higher Primary School, Bolar. Mr. Joyal, an active member of the SCJ community, led an insightful session for students in grades 5 to 7, addressing critical issues such as pollution, climate change impacts, and sustainable waste management practices. He highlighted the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling and encouraged adopting eco-friendly habits. An engaging Q&A session followed, allowing students to clarify their doubts and gain a deeper understanding of environmental issues. The program concluded with a student pledge to minimize personal waste and protect the environment, signaling a positive shift in their attitudes. The event was coordinated by Ms. Ashna Elizabath Ben of 2nd BSW and Haifa of 1st BSW, under the guidance of Field Supervisor Dr. Sophia Fernandes, Principal of the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore.
