Department of Criminology had organized study tour to Goa from 10th February 2019 to 13th February 2019 and visited the following-
On 11th February 2019 we visited Apna Ghar, Merces where child in need of care and protection and child in conflict with law are housed. The students gained an insight about the functions of the institution and also interacted with the inmates.
State Forensic Science Laboratory, Verna. The director addressed the students on the functions of the SFSL and the students gained knowledge on the different branches of forensic science. They were also given practical demonstration on fingerprints.
Indian Reserve Battalion, Althino. The students gained an insight on the functions of the Reserve Police and their role in maintaining peace during riots. Different firearms and shields used during stone pelting used by the IRB were also shown to the students
Dog Squad, Althino. The students witnessed the different breeds of dogs that are used in investigation of crimes like detecting explosives and narcotics and tracking criminals. The students were given a demonstration of the training of the dogs.
On 12th February 2019 we visited INS Hansa Indian naval air station , Dabolim. Students were taken to the Air traffic control room and they gained knowledge on the functions of the ATC. They witnessed the landing of the fighter plane MiG 29K and were taken to the simulator. They saw the different fighter aircrafts and choppers used by the Indian Navy.
