The Forensis Forum of the Postgraduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science (CFS) in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a Practical Demo on Forensic Analysis of Scientific Evidences for the Italian apprentice, from University of International Studies of Rome on 15th November 2024 at 3:15 PM in the Forensic Simulation Centre of MSc CFS.

Ms. Francesca Conte and Ms. Loyanne Pioggia, were warmly welcomed by Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science. She gave a brief introduction about the department, faculties and the students to the delegates. The queries related to the application of these practical in the field, exposures and job opportunities were discussed. 

In continuation, the practical demo on various aspects of Questioned documents such as torn documents, handwriting, signatures, secret writing, erasures, indented writings, counterfeiting currency notes were explained by the second-year MSc CFS students. The delegates were also shown the demo on the recording and development of impression evidence such as tool marks, fingerprints, shoe prints, and foot impressions. Additionally, they explored topics related to the Digital Forensics, and the software used in investigations. Further, they were taken to the simulated crime scene and requested them to give their opinion about the act committed based on the scientific evidences found in the crime scene.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The delegates expressed great enthusiasm, asked numerous questions regarding the relevance of the demonstrations, and shared their experiences. They appreciated the knowledge shared during the demo and acknowledged the efforts of the students and faculty in organizing such an engaging event.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Vedhaashini S Gowda, a second-year student of MSc CFS cum President of the Forensis Forum, followed by a group photo at 4:30 PM. A total of 11 students, 5 faculties, and 2 delegates were part of this event. Ms. Adheena M, a second-year student of MSc CFS and Media Coordinator of the department compiled the report.
