The Annual Sports Meet organized by the School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya was a grand success. It was held on the spacious grounds of St. Joseph, Jeppu, with the inauguration ceremony starting at 8:30 am. Mr. Sandeep Ullal, Director of Physical Education, and Ms. Roshini Monica Goveas, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, along with the band team, escorted our esteemed chief guest, Mrs. Vasudha S, an international athlete and the Physical Education Director of St. Agnes College, Mangalore. She was the esteemed chief guest of the event. The guest of honour, Prof. Vineetha K Registrar (Evaluation), School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Prof. Eveleen Benis, Head of MSW Department, and Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Economics, Dr. Jenis Mary, Vice Principal, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, were also present.

Mr. Sandeep Ullal, the Director of Physical Education at SSW Roshni Nilaya, welcomed the gathering. Ms. Angel Roshni introduced the torchbearers. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Vasudha S, addressed the gathering with her enlightening words on sportsmanship and declared the Annual Athletic meet 2023 open. Prof. Vineetha K, Registrar (Evaluation), gave the presidential address to the gathering, and the sports events began. The students of all classes came together with themes and colors representing the unity of the class during the march past. The track and field events were the highlights of the day, with students competing in a range of races such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and relay. The field events included shot put and discus throw, which were open to boys, girls, and staff. The sheer number of participants was impressive, and each one of them gave it their all, determined to secure a place for themselves.

As the day drew to a close, the much-awaited valedictory ceremony began at 3:30 pm. Dr. Sandra S Lobo, the NAAC coordinator and head of the Department of Psychology, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Her presence added to the professional tone of the event, and her inspiring words left a lasting impression on all those present.

The guests of honor at the valedictory ceremony were Dr. Saritha D'Souza, Head of the Department of MSC Criminology and Forensic Science, and Dr. Rosa Nimmy Mathew, Head of the Department of MSC Counseling. Dr. Meena Juliet Monteiro, Assistant Professor and Dean, Research PG Department of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, served as the president for the valedictory ceremony of the annual athletic meet 2023.

Finally, it was the most awaited moment for all the participants, the announcement of the winners. The winners of the individual champion of the Men's section were Mr. Dheeraj Srinivas from I MSW and Mr. Muhad Nabi Azad from II BA. The individual champion of the Women's section was Ms. M Chaitra from III BA and Ms. Vandana Shetty from I BSW. The first runner-up of the overall championship was III BA, the runners-up were I BSW, and the overall championship was won by I MSW. The champions in the staff section were Mr. Roshan and Ms. Shobha Jacintha D'Souza.

All the winners were congratulated, and the sports meet 2023 was brought to an end by lowering the flag and singing the National Anthem.
