INTRODUCTION-
Dr. Ambedkar was a social reformer, jurist, economist, author, polyglor (knowing or using several languages) orator, a scholar and thinker of comparative religions. He is known as the Father of the Indian Constitution and was India’s first Law Minister. He was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee for the new Constitution. He was a well-known statesman who fought for the rights of the Dalit’s and other socially backward classes. His birth anniversary is celebrated on 14" April every year, with great enthusiasm.

The 132th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar was celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and energy on Friday at 09:30 am in the premises of Maria paiva Hall,school of social work Roshni Nilaya Valencia Mangalore. The Birth Anniversary was conducted by the initiative of the Honourable Chairperson Mr. Sandeep Ullal SC/St Cell co-ordinator and Mrs. Veena B.K assistant NSS programme officer .The honourable chief guest ;
- Dr.siddaraju M.N, professor of Botany, Mangalore University college.
- Mr. jagadish . k, administrative officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, youth affairs and sports. D.K , Mangalore.
- Mr. Raguveer UNV – district youth officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangalore.
- Professor Vineetha.k registrar , Evaluation School of Social work , Roshni Nilaya Mangalore.
The Birth Anniversary program was conducted in the college so that the students get acquainted with the works and reforms of Dr. Ambedkar.
The program was graced with the presence of faculty member of the college like ;

- And also Professor Sandeep Ullal,the physical education director who presided over the program.
The program commenced by lighting the lamp and garland the potrait of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.
The faculties welcomed the guests by giving them a rose flower as a token of respect. Student of 1st B.S.W Ms.Khathija Mehtha YRC Volunteer delivered a short introductory speech in which she told about Dr. B.R.Ambedkar and his contribution to the society. It was followed by a speech given by chief guest Dr. Siddaraju M.N (professor of botany, Mangalore University college).Who told how Ambedkar contributed to his nation along with inspiring speech and words of wisdom.
Mr. Jagadish.k (Administrative officer, Nehru Yuva Kendra, youth affairs and sports, Dakshina Kannada, Mangalore). Addressed about the challenges that we can take up on this occasion of Ambedkar jayanti with a mission of providing necessary requirements of dropped children to get them back to the education platform.
Next, the NSS volunteers Ms. Bhakti and team were asked to sing (kranthi geete) on Ambedkar. District youth officer Mr. Raguveer UNV – (Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangalore). Addressed the first impression and then enlightened us with Ambedkar’s physical presence around the people with examples. Registrar-evaluation professor Vineetha.k (School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore)addressed the presidential speech on the occasion.
Then Ms. Navya .k (1st B.A, NSS volunteer)concluded the occasion with spelling out the words of gratitude to all those who made this event a sweet memory to carry home.
