On November 13, 2024, an engaging and insightful guest session on the topic of "Participatory Learning and Action" was conducted by Asst. Prof. Deepika Sanil from the Department of Bachelor of Social Work, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya (BSW) for the MSW students at the Institute of Management and Commerce, Srinivas University. The session aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of participatory approaches and methodologies used in social work practice.
The session was attended by 80 participants, who actively engaged in discussions and activities that emphasized the significance of participatory learning. Asst. Prof. Deepika Sanil, with her expertise and experience, highlighted the importance of involving communities in the decision-making processes, empowering individuals, and promoting sustainable development through collaborative efforts.
The interactive nature of the session encouraged the students to think critically about their roles as future social workers in implementing these strategies to create inclusive and participatory social change. The students gained valuable insights into how PLA can be effectively applied in diverse social settings to address issues related to social justice, development, and empowerment.
