The School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, joined the global observance of International Yoga Day on Friday, June 21, 2019. The event, held at the college auditorium, saw active participation from both students and the public.

The Department of Physical Education and NSS unit of the college organized the celebration, which featured yoga demonstrations and expert guidance. Mrs. Devipradha R. Hegde and Mrs. Mala G. Bhat, members of KMC Bejai Navachaithanya Yoga, served as resource persons for the event.

Associate Professor Cecilia Goveas, the NSS programme officer, introduced the yoga instructors to the attendees. The event coordinators were Prof. Goveas herself and Mr. Sandeep Ullal, Head of the Department of Physical Education.

During the one-hour yoga demonstration, Mrs. Devipradha emphasized the healing power of yoga, stating that "the practice of Yoga has the power to heal the entire body." The session attracted 160 students and 60 members of the public, all of whom participated enthusiastically in the yoga exercises.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sandeep Ullal.

International Yoga Day, commonly known as Yoga Day, has been celebrated annually on June 21 since its inception in 2015. The School of Social Work's celebration is part of a wider global recognition of yoga's importance for physical and mental well-being.
