EXPOSURE TO DISTRICT CHILD PROTECTION UNIT (DCPU)
As a part of academic curriculum, the second year students of Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice Specialization accompanied by Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Assistant Professor of the Department had been to “District Child Protection Unit” (DCPU), Bunder, Mangaluru on Monday, 13th June 2022 at 11am.
The main objective for the visit is to gain firsthand knowledge in the nature of work, structure, services provided by DCPU. Mrs. Yamuna. B, the District Child Protection Officer interacted with the students giving a brief note about the purpose of the unit and its major functions towards the protection of children in the society. The students were able to gain information about the establishment of DCPU, various schemes offered by them, functions, guidelines, implementation of different programmes and the supported services offered to the children. Students got an opportunity to discuss with the staff of the unit Mr. Vazeer Ahammad. Protection Officer, Non Institutional care and Mr. Kumar Shettigar, Protection Officer, Institutional care about their role and responsibilities. Altogether, 8 students, a faculty of the college and 10 staff of the organization were present during the interaction.
