A day workshop on Doctyloscopy for Doctors of Forensic Medicine, KSHEMA
The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organized one-day workshop on ‘Doctyloscopy -Science of Fingerprint Identification’ for Postgraduate doctors of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, Mangaluru on 13th July 2022.
A brief introduction about the sessions consisting of both theory and practical was delivered by Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science of the college. Further, Mr. Joel Joseph, Assistant Professor of the department discussed about the theoretical concept of Doctyloscpy, various patterns of fingerprint, Types of fingerprint found in the crime scene, techniques of development of fingerprint, Preservation, report writing and record of chain of custody. The session was made it effective through relevant picture, videos and presentation of cases. Mr. Roshan D’Souza and Ms. Bindiya T, Assistant Professors of the department assisted him during the practical demonstration of various methods of forensic analysis of fingerprint in the Forensic Science Laboratory.
Dr. Aashi Verma and Dr. M. A. S. Ananthan had actively participated during the session and expressed that information on Latent prints, Chance prints, plastic print, collection of fingerprint evidences based on surface texture and colour, preservation, processing, interpretation and chain of custody through practical demo was very effective and able to understand the concept clearly. Altogether, 2 doctors of KSHEMA and Four faculties of the Department were present during the discussion.
