Forensis Forum of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science had organised an interclass competition on ‘Regard Before You Discard- Best Out of Waste’ on 7th October 2022 at 3pm in the PG Dept. of CFS. The objectives of the activity are to focus on bringing an understanding among the students about preserving the environment by reusing and recycling waste material. This competition also stimulates various innovative and creative ideas among the students that results in development of fantastic and usable products. The idea will not only be of economic and material value for students, but will be helpful in creating environmental consciousness among them.
Both first and second year students were divided into Six different groups before conducting the competition. Each group consisted of 4 to 5 members. The required waste materials were brought by the students and were given one-hour duration to complete various articles. The articles created were assessed on being made strictly out of waste materials, creativity and its usefulness. Groups led by Ms. Saumini, Ms. Swetha and Ms. Nandita won the first, second and third prize respectively. Ms. Bindiya T, former Assistant Professor of the department and an alumni of the institution, Mr. Niketh P.S. Asstistant Professor and an alumnus of the department were the judges for the competition.
The competition was held under the guidance of Dr. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the department of Criminology and Forensic Science, with the support of the faculties, Mr. Roshan D’Souza, Student Welfare Officer and Mr. Joel Joseph. Ms. Matcha Aarathi, President, and Ms. Likhita V.K. Secretory of forensic forum took an initiative to organize the competition. Altogether, 34 students, 4 faculties and an alumni were part of this event.
