As a part of the Forensis Forum Activity, the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) had organized a group competition on the theme “Bin-Tastic"—Best out of Waste competition on 16th August 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Maria Paiva Hall of the college. The main objective of this event was to enhance the skill based critical thinking, to encourage the creativity and sense of unity among students.
The students in the forum were divided into five groups with 6 students each named as: Ravenclaw, Acrass, Caesar, Unimaginable, and Maverick. Each group was asked to work on waste materials. After briefing the rules for the competition, each group was given 45 minutes to prepare the various items using waste materials. Mr. Sandeep U, Director of Physical Education; Mrs. Ancilla Stephanie D'Cunha, Library Staff; and Mr. Anees Rahman C P, Assistant Professor, UG Dept. of Criminology were the jury for the competition. The groups were evaluated based on team involvement, use of resources, creativity, presentation, and number of items.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr Saritha D’Souza, Head, PG Department of Criminology and Forensic Science and IQAC Coordinator and Ms. Nashwa Iqbal, Assistant Professor and Faculty Coordinator of Forensis Forum. The second year students of the department Ms. Vedhaashini S Gowda, President, Forensis Forum and Ms. Feba Shamma R, Secretary of Forensis Forum had taken the initiative to organize the event. Each group presented unique and creative materials out of waste. Team Mavericks led by Ms. Nicole Mendonca won the first place and Team Unimaginable led by Ms. Fathima Farasath secured second place.
The judges gave positive feedback and congratulated all the enthusiastic students on their active participation. The students expressed that the activity helped them to relax, showcase talent and work in unity. The event concluded at 4:30 pm. Altogether, 33 students and 4 faculties were present.
