The students of 2nd year M.Sc counselling, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Ananya Singh, Jyothi B Kanade and Rajani Biradar, organized a Psychoeducation session on the topic, Accept and Change-Relationship with Others and Self(ACROS), for the members between the age group of 13-22 years. The session was organized on 10/04/2022 for the duration of 4 hour, 3pm to 7:45 pm in Inchara Foundation, Mangalore. The total number of members was 20. The Psychoeducation session was conducted by 3 group leaders. The rationale for the session was that the inmates are victims of child abuse and staying away from the family, the seeking for validation and suffering in isolation had impacted their interpersonal relationships and mental well-being. The aim of the session was to help members enhance relationship with self and others using Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. Psychoeducation was conducted in 4 sessions. 1st session with introductory ice breakers and exercises related identify their attachment styles and its impact, 2nd session was focused to educate members about boundaries, 3rd session was conducted to facilitate radical acceptance and train them in using mindfulness skill and the 4th session was to enhance their interpersonal effectiveness. Different energizers were used in between the sessions to retain energy and interest of the members. Processing questions were asked after the each exercises. Members actively participated in the session and session was ended with the love and kindness meditation. The Psychoeducation sessions, helped the members identify their attachment styles and boundary patterns and gave them insight on strengthening their boundaries and working towards the secure attachment style. The members learnt the techniques to regulate their emotions and accept things beyond their control. Members also learnt mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness.
