The Post graduate Department of M.Sc. Counseling & Holistic well-being forum organized a departmental international Symposium “Synergy” on 6th September, 2022. The objective of the session was to create a space and platform to interact, share ideas and support each other. The participants of the session were eight students from Volda University and 11 students of M.Sc. Counselling, School of Social work, Roshni Nilaya. The sessions began with prayer son by Ms.Anusha Kamath, Cultural secretary, PG student Council. Ms. Mariyam Lishana of II M.SC Counseling welcomed the gathering.
Dr.Juliet C J, Principal of School of Social work Roshni Nilaya, addressed the gathering followed by the department presentation by Dr. Rosa N Mathew highlighting the functioning and activities of the department. Dr. Jenis Mary, Vice principal, delivered the key note address, emphasized on the significance of this Synergy and set the tone for the event. Other dignitaries present were, Prof Evelyn Benis, secretary of the institution and HOD of MSW department, Dr. Wilsy Francis, Student welfare officer, and Assistant professor Ms. Jennifer Carlo.
II M.Sc. Counselling students facilitated the rest of the session with various fun filled exercises namely movement activity, props, videos and music to break the ice and establish a bond between members. The programme also brought in opportunity for the students to talk about their culture, food habits, life style and living conditions. There was also sharing on the challenges faced in helping profession; Students from Volda clarified their queries associated with working with children and working at local level with the staff and students of M.Sc. Counseling. The one hour 40 minutes session concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Saphia Bustan and a group photo session. The outcome of the session was that the students were able to establish a bond, got connected and supported on their preparation towards field experience in India.
