Post Graduate Department of Social Work of school of Social Work, Mangalroe organised a half day Orientation Programme on ‘Social Work Education and Practice’ for the First Year MSW Students of Mangalore University on 3rd December, 2022 from 10 am to 12.45 pm. Prof. (Dr.) Dr. Paul Gerard Aquinas, Chairman, Post-Graduate Department of Studies and Research in Social Work Mangalore University along with 4 faculty and 90 students were present.
The programme unofficially started at the Reflection Park with a brief Introduction given by Dr. Juliet CJ, about the humble beginnings of this esteemed pioneer institution in Social Work. The Students and the Staffs were accompanied to the AV hall by Dr. Juliet CJ and Asst Prof. Angelin Ebinezar. After the Prayer Song by Ms. Chithara, Second Year MSW student, . Dr. Juliet CJ officially welcomed the gathering and as a token of love and welcome a Sapling was gifted to Prof. (Dr.) Dr. Paul Gerard Aquinas.
Dr. Juliet CJ took over the session with the Introduction of Various Pioneer Institutions of Social Work in India and she elaborated on the history of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya. She also explained about Dr. Olinda Pereira, The Founder Principal of the affiliated College and her committed services to the society and Social Work profession both academically and through her humanitarian service. She briefed about Various Programs offered by the College as well as the significance of field work in Social Work.
After a tea break, the session was continued by Prof. Vineetha K., HOD of BSW Department and Registrar (Evaluation). She explained about the Importance of Field Work for a Social Work aspirant. She guided the students in different social work values that they need to inculcate and carry as a professional.
The last session was taken by Asst. Prof. Angelin Ebinezar, about the HR Concept - 5S and how we can implement the concept in our daily life.
After an interaction with the students, the Session concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Juliet CJ. Dr. Paul Gerard Aquinas, as alumni of the Institution thanked, Dr. Juliet CJ and the institution for this great opportunity and as a token of gratitude, a memento was presented to Dr. Juliet CJ.
