On 17th August 2024, Saturday, at 11:30 am, 150 Post Graduate students from the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru along with their faculty guides, Ms. Ramya B. and Dr. Umme Hani participated in the ‘Silent March’ to show their solidarity and support for healthcare professionals demanding safety of women in their workplace. The Indian Medical Association, Mangaluru Chapter in association with various other voluntary associations requested healthcare professionals, students and citizens to join the ‘Silent March’ from I.M.A. House to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mangaluru. The students from Roshni Nilaya assembled in front of the I.M.A. House and participated in the march, protesting the brutal rape and murder of a female doctor on duty in Kolkata, demanding justice, fair investigation and swift action from the law enforcement departments to nab and punish the offenders. At 12:30 pm the students peacefully dispersed from the location as the march concluded.
