‘Scintilla 2019 – Mask Of Souls’ a Psycho-Educational Worksop to Inspire, express and nurture the human spirit was organised by the department of M.Sc. Counselling, School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore on 09.02.2019 based on the Expressive Therapy using dance/movement, drama and art.

The objective of the session was to promote self awareness and self esteem through the mode of dance.  Artistic self expressions to help people resolve conflicts, manage their behaviour, reduce stress and achieve insight through art form. Through drama to integrate one’s physical and emotional well being achieved in an innovative way.

The workshop began with a prayer song led by the first year M.Sc.Counselling students. The chief guest Ms. Ratna Pinto along with the Principal of the college Ms. Juliet C.J. and Head of the Department Dr. Audrey Pinto inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp. Representatives from the various colleges present were then asked to unmask the frame ‘scintilla 2019’.
 
Ms. Ratna Pinto, a renowned soft skill trainer and alumnus of the college Roshni Nilaya in her key note address invited the delegates to feel expressive, to be creative and to accept and know that we are worth this life and we should learn to live the way we want. Ms. Pinto also disclosed how expressive therapy has helped her in her personal life and to cope with situations in a better way and also encouraged them to practice expressive therapy in their daily life.
 
Ms. Juliet C.J., Principal, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya urged the gathering to be natural in thoughts and behaviour, and unmask one’s inner beauty to know and understand who we are. Each one of us is unique and we have our role to play in the world she said.

The sessions were divided into two morning and afternoon. Each delegate had a chance to participate in two expressive therapy sessions for a day. 83 delegates from various colleges participated in the workshop.

 ‘Scintilla’ meaning  Spark of Light, is an exuberant event facilitated by the second year M.Sc. students since 2016 for the delegates of the various colleges all across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District.
