An Insight into ‘CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION’; a session for the Doctors of Yenepoya University

As a part of the Memorandum Of Understanding (M.O.U) between the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work (Autonomous) and the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru; an interaction session was organised on ‘Crime Scene Investigation’ followed by a ‘Forensic Science Exhibition’ on the 16th of September 2019 in the College Campus. The delegates of the programme consisted of doctors representing various states of India, who were students of Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology and Odonthology, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University). Dr. Leena Pramod, Assistant Coordinator of this course represented her department.

Dr Saritha D'Souza, Head, Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science addressed the delegates with regard to procedure of crime scene investigation and its importance. She spoke on the various techniques used in searching of the crime scene, collection of scientific evidence and the appropriate technique in handling and preservation of the evidence to forward it for seeking expert opinion. A hand’s on training was provided for the delegates on the above topics by creating a simulated crime scene.

On this occasion Forensic Science Exhibition was also arranged for the delegates, where the Post Graduate students of Criminology and Forensic science took an initiative to explain the application of Forensic Science in criminal investigation and its significance in prevention and detection of Crime, under the guidance of Mr. Balajinarayan B. and Mr. Amitesh V. Shetty, Assistant Professors of the Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science. Ms. Rachel Fernandes and Ms. Shayanna T.K. delivered the vote of thanks.
