On April 5, 2024, 31 first and second-year B.A. and B.S.W. students from the Kannada Language Department, along with their Head of Department Mr. Obanath, visited the Rani Abbakka Tuluva Baduku mattu Adyayana Kendra (The Rani Abbakka Tuluva Life and Research Centre) in Sanchayagiri, B.C. Road, Bantwal.

The museum's founder, Dr. Thukaram Poojary, a renowned historian and museologist, and Dr. Ashalatha Suvarna, welcomed the students and provided an in-depth explanation of the rich culture and history of Tulunadu. The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, ranging from daily household items such as cooking utensils and farming equipment to jewellery, showcasing the ingenuity, skills, and native knowledge of the Tuluva people.

The students had the opportunity to explore the museum's exhibits, which include remnants of pottery from the megalithic site in Badara Kadekaru, just 15 km from Bantwal, and rare instruments used to chase away tigers, highlighting the region's history and cultural practices. The museum also features a unique cradle fabricated with different types of wood, demonstrating the craftsmanship of the Tuluva people.

The visit aimed to educate the students about the significance of preserving the cultural heritage of Tulunadu and to inspire them to celebrate the history and legacy of the region. The museum serves as a repository of the Tuluva culture, showcasing the contributions of historical figures like Rani Abbakka, the first Tuluva Queen of Ullal who fought against the Portuguese in the 16th century.

The visit was a valuable learning experience for the students, providing them with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural tapestry of Tulunadu.
