The Department of Psychology organized a visit to Anirvedha- Centre for Psychological Well-being, Mangaluru on Tuesday, 2nd November 2021 from 10:30 am to 12 pm. A total of 16 III BA students of Psychology visited the center accompanied by Asst. Prof. Roshini Monica Goveas.
Ms. Marwa, the speech therapist at the center gave an orientation about the center with a thrust on equating psychological health to physical health and removing the sympathy tag towards certain children. This 5 - year- old NGO with 21 professionals provides supportive intervention, psychological assessment and training to over 63 registered clients.
All covid 19 protocols were maintained and the students were then divided into groups of four to observe the various speech therapy sessions. Ms. Benzita, a psychologist at the Centre gave an insight on the working of the Centre. From the time one registers for assessment and intervention until the individual's attainment of therapy goals were all detailed out. Students were exposed to some study materials, creatively prepared play kits and even witnessed sessions like remedial teaching, behavioural therapy and speech therapy.
This visit was an insightful and knowledgeable experience for the students.
