The Department of Psychology organized a Capacity Building Programme titled “Wildlife Photography Skills” on Thursday, 25th May 2023 from 11:45 am to 12:40 pm in the college auditorium. Fifty-six students along with faculty members attended this programme.
Dr Sandra Sunita Lobo, Head of the Department of Psychology introduced the resource person, Mr Manjunath S Mithra (alumnus BSW 2007-2010; MSW 2010-2012) currently working as HR Officer for BHEL, Bengaluru.
Mr Manjunath was very happy to return to his alma mater and address students about his passion. He stressed that he never gave up on his passion despite discouragements and humiliation. He addressed the gathering on the following topics
• Basics of Photography by explaining the right equipment for the right genre, light exposure triangle, focus and modes in camera.
• Different Genre in Photography such as Landscape, Micro, Macro, Wildlife, Portrait, Documentary, Fashion, Travel, Event photography and food.
• Mr Manjunath focussed more on his passion- Wildlife Photography which concerns documenting various forms of wildlife in their natural habitat.
• Wildlife photography as a profession- freelancing, Wildlife NGOs like WWF, Wildlife SOS, Nature Conservation Foundation, Wildlife Channels like NATGEO, BBC,
Animal Planet, Content Creators for Social Media, Travel & Tourism Magazines Mr Manjunath shared some of his fascinating experiences during his visits to Bandipur, Nagarhole, Kali Tiger Reserve, K Gudi, Bhadra Tiger Reserve besides other Parks outside the State of Karnataka. He has captured & documented more than 150 birds, 35 individual Tigers, 11 leopards and other rare mammals like Indian Wolves and the audience got to see a few of his brilliant captures which left them all dumbfounded.
