A Guest lecture titled “Career Lab: Frameworks, First Impressions, and Future Innovations”, was successfully organized on Monday, 13th January 2025 by the Department of Psychology. The engaging session, attended by twenty-one III BA Psychology students, unfolded within the confines of the Psychology Laboratory from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The primary objective of this immersive experience was to equip aspiring professionals with the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary to navigate the dynamic landscape of the modern workplace.

The session commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the speaker by Ms Afreen Kolachalil. Mrs. Sowmya, (alumna 1998-2001 BA batch and 2001-2003 MSW batch) the Chief Operating Officer at Takshashila Institution was florally welcomed by Enora Gomes.

Mrs. Sowmya boasts a distinguished career spanning two decades, seamlessly blending experience in both the corporate and social sectors. Her professional journey encompasses roles in HR at McAfee Software, independent consulting, and leadership positions in the aerospace and social impact domains. Notably, as Chief Impact Officer at Rang De, she spearheaded fundraising efforts, meticulously evaluated the impact of community-based projects, and effectively engaged with diverse stakeholders. Currently, at Takshashila, she oversees all HR functions, fosters corporate engagement, and cultivates impactful outreach and partnerships.

Mrs. Sowmya initiated the session by providing a comprehensive overview of diverse career paths, encouraging students to explore beyond conventional options. She guided the students through a self-reflective process, facilitating the creation of individual SWOT analyses to identify their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Subsequently, she offered personalized career guidance, fostering insightful discussions on potential career trajectories. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing students to address their specific concerns and gain valuable insights from Mrs. Sowmya's wealth of experience.

The interactive session empowered students with valuable insights into diverse career pathways, enhanced their self-awareness, and equipped them with practical skills for career exploration and decision-making. The speaker was thanked by Mahed Sadia S.
