On Monday, 17th March 2025, the Department of Psychology and IQAC of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya organised a guest lecture delivered by Ms. Shravya M H on the topic "Traversing Through Boundaries: Challenges, Lessons and Successes". The resource person Ms. Shravya MH, our alumna (2017-2020 BA batch) completed her MSc in Business Psychology in Kingston University, United Kingdom.
In her session, Ms. Shravya spoke about her experience and challenges of finding work. She emphasized the need to engage in activities, building connections and networks. She also spoke about how certain networking apps like LinkedIn can help in connecting with people and to find job opportunities when you kickstart your career.
And that, the connections act as a strength in finding useful opportunities.
In her experience, she connected with people through networking sessions and professional events, both formal and informal.
She spoke about the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association of Business Psychologists (ABP) which are currently the two main professional accreditation bodies in the UK.
She also emphasized the need to always be curious, to understand our situation well before starting to work, that gaining work experience is very valuable and to keep striving for our goals.
Lastly, she concluded the session by telling the students to focus on our studies, to make the most out of our time being a student, to be serious about our plans, and to take every opportunity that comes to us. The lecture ended with a question answer round. Twenty- three final year students of Psychology got a good peek into the career options in Psychology from DK to UK (United Kingdom).
