A half day workshop was organised by the Department of Psychology for the second year students and other interested students from I and III B.A (54). The workshop was conducted by Mr. Mahesh B.S., Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Professor of Kasturba Medical College and hospital, Mangaluru on Saturday, July 27th 2019 in the Psychology Laboratory.
The session began with a power point presentation about stress and its impact on one’s mind and body. An activity was conducted to identify stress under four categories namely Physical, Emotional, Cognitive and Behavioural. The controlled breathing technique and the 5 finger technique were demonstrated and the participants practiced it. A time management matrix sheet was answered by all.
Mr Mahesh B.S spoke on understanding and solving worry, as well as classifying them into 2 types - a) hypothetical worries and b) practical worries. A “stress emergency kit” was presented and participants picked items of their choice. After the question and answer session, Mr. Mahesh B.S displayed an art form of magic and mentalism which awed the participants.
