The department of Rural development organized a youth exchange programme for rural development students with the German and Japanese Interns in FSL (Field Services and Intercultural Learning), Kundapur on 25 September 2019. The programme coordinators of FSL briefed the students about the various programmes and activities conducted by the organization such as sustainable agriculture, youth exchange, preservation of endangered species of Sea Turtles, waste management, etc. The staff in charge began the youth exchange with few ice breakers. The topics discussed during the exchange was on Education system, Culture and waste management in India, Germany and Japan. They continued their interaction during working lunch organized by FSL. During the second half of the day, the team proceeded for an exposure visit to Namma Bhoomi (a fit institution for children in need of care and protection) and Namma Nalanda Vidyapeeta facilitated by The Concerned for Working Children (CWC), an NGO. Students gained hands on experience on poultry, animal husbandry, water harvesting techniques, organic farming, etc in Namma Bhoomi. They were introduced to Appropriate Education Techniques based on Montessori Education methods adopted in Namma Nalanda Vidyapeeta. They also visited Namma Angadi where rural handicrafts are marketed to support rural artisans.
