Students of BSW- Mrinalini Krishna and Ruth Elizabeth Rani E, II BSW, Jeslin John and Prakrithi V Nayak, I BSWparticipated in the two-day National Seminar on SAMPRATHI 2019- “Youth as Catalysts in Social Change” which was held on 26th and 27th September, 2019 at Eric Mathias Hall, Maffie Centre for Post Graduate Studies, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The Seminar commenced with the Inaugural Ceremony inaugurated by the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr) G Gopa Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod and Rev. Praveen Martis, SJ, the Principal of the College Presided over the programme.
Prof. G Gopa Kumar gave the participants an insight that only youth can bring the change and eradicate social evils like disease, untouchability, poverty, and illiteracy. He emphasized that this can be attained only if the youth were educated in a proper way and they also maintain their health and social responsibility.He urged the students not to be a prey of consumerism, instead become role models in building the nation. There was a Theme based Skit performed by the BA and BSW students at this Seminar.
On the second day of the Seminar, there were presentation of papers by the delegates and there were different Panel Sessions on different topics in the morning session followed by lunch and the Valedictory session in the afternoon. The participants had a great time of learning and were stimulated by the inputs from the experts of different fields to be a catalyst in Social Change.
