A webinar on “ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: BASIC POLICIES” was organised by III BSW Field Work students of School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya Ms. Prathima D’Costa, Mr. Akash Neville Wilson, Ms. Mrinalini Krishna and Mr. Supreeth K on Virtual Meet On 28th May 2021. The resource person for the webinar was Mr. D. Krishna Kumar, Senior Analyst from Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC).
The session started with Mr. Akash Neville Wilson welcoming the participants and introducing the resource person to the participants, after which Mr. Krishna Kumar took over the session. The resource person started by asking the participants basic questions about sea waste, temperature rise, plastic recycling and so on. The objective of the seminar was to provide basic understanding of sustainability, its concepts and its applications. Through this webinar Mr. Krishna Kumar conveyed to the participants that the aim of sustainable development is to balance our economic, environmental and social needs, allowing prosperity for the present and future generations. Sustainability is a long term, integrated approach to developing and achieving a healthy community whilst avoiding the over consumption of natural resources. Being sustainable encourages us to conserve and enhance our resource base.
The webinar ended with a question and answer session and vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Supreeth K of III BSW.
