School Of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, celebrated its Annual College day with great ardour on 31st January, 2020. The auditorium was decorated in an elegant fashion to commemorate the event.
Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo, Guidance Counsellor and therapist, Shanthi Kiran Counselling Centre, Diocese of Mangalore was the Chief Guest for the day and Prof. Veeda Sequeira, President, Daughters of the Heart of Mary, India, Province South was the Guest of Honour.
The programme commenced through a prayer song to invoke the blessings of God almighty.
The Student President, Ms Aysha Mayza welcomed the gathering. Dr. Jenis Mary, the Vice principal, presented the annual college report of the year 2019 which was accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. She made the audience aware of the school’s achievements in academics and co-curricular arenas. Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo and Prof. Veeda Sequeira awarded the outstanding students with special prizes and merit certificates.
Rev. Fr. Arun Lobo, addressed the gathering with his inspiring words on how one’s life attains meaning when they dedicate it to serve others in society. He also mentioned how people are still fixed at attaining love and belongingness and their safety needs that they do not achieve self-actualization. Thus, his message was directed towards the youth to take charge of their lives and to also make changes in others’ lives as ‘Love is made fruitful in service’.
After this, the General Secretary, Ms. Merula Joy Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. Following the formal programme, the cultural entertainment programme commenced that consisted of drama, singing and dance which was put up by the students. The event was a grand success. The Master of Ceremony for the Formal programme was Ms. Shravya and Ms.Tiala Rego and Ms. Mufeeda compered for the Cultural Programme.
