Post Graduate Department of Social Work and English Department (UG) in collaboration with Prison Ministry, India organized an awareness program on the theme ‘Drug Abuse and its effects on relationships’ on November 14, 2023, at 11:00 am onwards . The event commenced with a warm welcome extended by Mr. Lawrence Crasta, Prison Ministry India. Mr. BT Obaleshappa, Prison Superintendent addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of addressing drug abuse in society. On the occasion of Children’s Day, games were organized for the children present which fostered a sense of joy. Small tokens of appreciation were distributed to the children, adding a touch of warmth. Students performed a prayer song, a dance and an impact full skit depicting the adverse effects of drug abuse. 15 students were accompanied by Prof Evelyn Benis, Head and Associate Professor, PG Dept of Social Work, Anuradha Shetty, Assistant Professor, PG Dept of Social Work, and Vineetha Pereira, Assistant Professor, English Department. Prof Evelyn Benis shared insightful reflections on Children’s Day and expounded on the significance of addressing the theme of drug abuse in prison settings. In conclusion, Mr. BT Obaleshappa appreciated and extended gratitude towards everyone involved in making the event a grand success.
