On the 8th of December 2023, the Adelaide Library at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, achieved a significant milestone by launching Dspace digital library designed to enhance the accessibility of the library's resources for both students and faculty. The inauguration ceremony commenced at 9:45 am with prayers and blessings from Fr. Amar, Sr. Maria Anitha, and Josepheena Devassykutty.
Ms. Ancilla Dcunha, skillfully coordinating the program, extended a warm welcome to all distinguished guests and students. The library's inauguration was conducted by Ms. Vida Sequeira, the President of the Institute, who symbolically opened a digital book. Subsequently, Fr. Amar provided an informative session on navigating the digital library, offering valuable insights to students and faculty members.
Ms. Vida Sequeira delivered inspiring messages, metaphorically characterizing the event as a gateway to new beginnings. Dr. Jacinta Dsouza, the former principal, shared insights into the historical growth of the Adelaide Library, expressing joy over the attainment of this significant milestone. Assoc. Prof. Cecilia Farida Goveas offered heartfelt congratulations to the library management and team.
The distinguished inaugural ceremony was graced by notable personalities, including Dr.Sophia Fernandes (Principal), Ms. Vida Sequeira (President of the Institute), Prof. Evelyn Benis (Secretary of the Institute), Assoc. Prof. Farida Cecilia Goveas (IQAC Coordinator), Prof. Vineetha K. (Registrar), Former Principal Dr. Jacinta Dsouza, and other esteemed faculty members.
Ms. Supreetha delivered a gracious vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the inaugural ceremony with a special mention to Ms. Shanthi Rebello one of the library team members who toiled hard for the success of the event. This historic occasion marks a transformative step forward for the Adelaide Library, embracing the digital era to better serve the academic community. There were a total of 30 people attended the inaugural program.
