Mangalore, January 26, 2025 : The School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, marked India's 76th Republic Day with a grand celebration that began at 8:30 AM, embodying the spirit of democracy and constitutional values that define the nation.
The ceremony commenced with an inspiring introduction featuring the words of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, followed by a devotional invocation song. Ms. Navya K, President of the Student Council, welcomed the distinguished gathering, setting the tone for the momentous occasion.
A significant highlight of the event was the floral tribute paid to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. The Chief Guest, Prof. A.M. Khan, Former Registrar of Mangalore University and Presently the Chairman of the Department of Electronics along with other dignitaries, honored Dr. Ambedkar's legacy and his pivotal role in shaping India's democratic foundation. Following this, Prof. Khan unfurled the national flag, after which the assembled crowd sang the National Anthem with profound respect.
In a notable addition to this year's celebrations, Dr. Kiran Prasad, Assistant Professor and Dean of Administration, led the gathering in taking the Voter Pledge, emphasizing civic responsibility. Prof. Khan's keynote address highlighted the Constitution's significance and citizens' role in nation-building.
The cultural segment of the program featured the Roshni Music Association's stirring rendition of 'Vande Mataram'. Ms. Afreen, the Academic Secretary, delivered an eloquent speech on Republic Day's contemporary relevance, while Ms. Mahed Sadia, the General Secretary, concluded the ceremony with a vote of thanks.
The event served as a reminder of India's journey from colonial rule to sovereignty, honoring the sacrifices of freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, and Subhas Chandra Bose. It also paid tribute to the ongoing dedication of India's armed forces in safeguarding the nation's borders.
The celebration successfully blended patriotic fervor with academic dignity, reflecting the institution's commitment to fostering constitutional values and national pride among its students and faculty. A total of 60 students, faculty and the members of the Management of the Institution participated in this celebration.
